Our story
Every runner has a finish line story
For our founder, Kris Olsen, that story began thousands of miles from home.
Selected by the Columbus Marathon as an exchange runner in the Sister City program, Kris traveled to Dresden, Germany, to run the Dresden Half Marathon. After crossing the finish line, she experienced something uncommon in the United States at the time — having her finisher's medal permanently engraved with her name and finish time.
In that moment, the medal became more than an award. It became a lasting connection to the months of training, the journey to another country, the friendships formed, and the accomplishment of crossing that finish line — a personal story she could relive every time she held it.
That single experience inspired the vision for Finish Line Engravers.
Kris partnered with her husband, Aaron, whose decades of experience building efficient operations and scalable processes made it possible to bring that same experience to race weekends across America. Together, they set out with a simple mission: to ensure every runner has the opportunity to preserve one of life's proudest accomplishments in a meaningful and permanent way.
Today, Finish Line Engravers partners with race organizers, sponsors, and endurance brands to create memorable finish-line experiences through professional, on-site laser engraving. Our mobile engraving systems combine precision, speed, and reliability so thousands of runners can personalize their medals before the excitement of race day has faded.
We believe a marathon medal isn't just a piece of metal. It's the culmination of early mornings, missed weekends, personal sacrifice, perseverance, and triumph. Our job is to make sure that story is engraved forever — and to become the most trusted engraving partner at start lines and for brands across North America.
